How to get the most out of your Kirby Investment
Keep your Kirby Running at top performance. Lets look at the vacuum system that Kirby uses There are
two different types Upright vacuum cleaners systems. Your Kirby is a Direct Air Type System which
means when vacuuming dirt gets pick up at the Brush Nozzle and passes though the Belt system then
though the motor fan system which propels the dirt into the vacuum bag keeping the dirt partials In and
letting the air escape though the pores of the vacuum bag. The Pro's of this type of system they create
a lot of air flow one of the most important component of great vacuuming . While Kirby vacuum cleaners are
tough they do need a good deal of manitance and some preventive care to continue to work at top preformance. Here are a few simple tips on maintaining your kirby vacuum cleaner.

Since we now know that kirby is a direct air system and all the dirt and every thing else goes though the belt and motor fan system; before turning on the vacuum you should scan the area that you intend to vacuum and pick up anything that could damage the belt or fan system. Like some of the common thing I see that come in my vacuum store shoe laces, fishing line, socks, large twigs, wood chips from around fireplace or wood stove, children toys All can damage the belt. Your kirby belt will stretch out Just from normal use when this happens the belt does not give good tenision on the brush roll the brush will slip on the carpet and will not clean as well So you change you belt at lease once a year or every six months for best performance.

If every thing makes it past the belt It still has to go though the motor fan system before getting to the paper bag One of the most common repair that come into my shop is replacing fan blades on kirby vacuum cleaners will say it again Kirbys are tough and you will get lucky a few time but if something hard hit the fan blade just right the fan will break a blade or shatter the whole fan impeller. Some repair shop charge up to a hundred dollars to replace the fan blade so again to help prevent this scan the area to be vacuum and pick up anything that might cause breakage such as all types of screws, nails, coins, hard toys lego marble wood chunks small rocks. This could also save you from a costly repair bill ...
